I was going to start this off with something high falutin’, but who am I trying to kid? I have a blog for several reasons: the small bite sized blog posts are a perfect match to my short lived flashes of creativity, I can feel like I am maintaining some contact with the outside world despite my strong hermit inclinations, it is a place to showcase things I find interesting and funny, and finally, it is an opportunity for me to expound on some more serious issues that I have been longing to tackle.
I have hesitated to sound off on these issues previously because a blog is not the best forum. These will be long winded analysis covering all sorts of potentially boring and opinionated stuff. Of course, I have posted some of these thought processes before, to resounding silence and stifling ambivalence. But don’t think I am somehow passing judgement this lack of response. While certainly blogs can take any shape one desires I think there is a preference for shorter posts that get to the point quickly and keep the reader entertained throughout. Me, as this introduction is proving can use five words when silence is often a better fit. I also think that blogs create a strange yes/no inclination. You click on a blog, see a new post and after a quick scan decide the topic is too much of something and you wander elsewhere. I want to avoid that while still having the option to be vent my spleen as if I’m being paid by the word.
Which is where the pages come in. The pages are the headings you see under the banner when the blog opens. This is where I will expound from on high. I will post on the main blog site when I have updated one of these pages, and will create a link to the page. Furthermore, if you wish to comment on the latest page update can do so in the blog post (because you cannot comment on the page itself). The main body of the blog will be reserved for more entertaining matters and bit sized issues.
This is the plan, we will see how well it unfolds. As always, your comments are welcome.
