I assumed the mantle of General Manager today. I am now helming the new Tampa store -a store mired in problems and lacking direction. In walks me.. a self proclaimed leader. Not just a manager, but a person who makes a great effort to ascribe to the principals of leadership. I won’t belabor [...] I love Steven Wright. I grew up with the guy. His deadpan humor and Yankee accent where a staple of my early childhood. Not too mention his performance in Reservoir Dogs. So imagine my shock when I flip on the tube tonight to see some old guy doing stand up -only the voice [...] I feel the need to add to my description of the final book of the Dark Tower series. For those of you who have read King -you know that he is hit and miss, with more checks in the hit column. His narrative is like cotton candy, sweet and goes down oh [...] Seeing how so many look up to me for guidance and clarity regarding those things that dwell in the realm of Cool -I felt that it was my responsibility to dispense my wisdom to the masses. This man, this monster -in addition to a [...] I normally don’t like to talk about my day to day stuff, it is oh-so-trite. Deeper waters for me, or slapstick irony with a dash of cheese. Anyway.. I fly out to Miami next week for my final management training class for Linens N Things. In this class I have to give a [...] What I liked: The ocean -being in the middle of nowhere on a boat. A feeling of wondrous desolation and isolation. Sitting on deck chair, drink in hand watching the waves go by. Solitude and peace. No obligations, no work to think of.. just a good book and plenty of time. Cruise ship reading [...] Our boat had 2,400 people on it. It is a floating hotel where everyone checks in at the same time and checks out at the same time. The boat stays in constant usage for several months (not sure how many -but several). As we were leaving the boat the new passengers were waiting to get on. Our [...] Philip Seymour Hoffman is truly masterful in this movie. See it. Buy it. It is wonderful. |
