Comments for Luddites Unite!

Rise up my Luddite brothers! Rail against the technology that has made man simpleton and slave. Lash out against the technical revolution that has so thoroughly surpassed our own personal development as a species. Assail the ramparts of the shallow ever-present belief that owning a blackberry and updating your MySpace page with Tweets is the height of humanity. We are 72 hours without electricity from total chaos. We are clever monkeys moments from the jungle. What we should not be is a collection of absurd idiot devices. Join me as I use humor, satire and biting commentary to expose the fallacies of today’s ‘modern’ world. And if you see any irony in the manner in which I carry out my crusade then you are one step closer to redemption.

The Koreans have some sci-fi movies that are pretty darn good. A guy I know that tracks this sort of stuff turned me on to them -I'll try to get some titles. Anyway, IFC and Sundance both show Korean movies every now and then (of course, obviously the scy-fy network won't go near this type of stuff, they are too busy showing the epic saga, Rock Monster.)

On a different note, I keep hearing about the new exorcism movie by Eli Roth. I'm like 'how do I know that name?' He's the Bear Jew!(Inglorious Basterds) One of the best instant characters ever. I suggest that you do like me and work Bear Jew into as many conversations as possible.

"The Good, The Bad, The Weird". To see it is to realize that the Koreans understand something about action/adventure film-making that Hollywood seems to have forgotten: how to keep you on the edge of your seat, laughing, cheering, and grimacing the entire time.

And it's a friggin' Western. Assuming the West is set in the middle of Manchuria.

And Lee Byung-hun's emo-style haircut? You won't even notice after a while, I promise.

I finally got a chance to play this recently, and yeah, I'm way impressed. The appeal of Westerns is definitely the freedom and lawlessness, and really, that's what Rockstar was all about in the first place. Makes perfect sense and was pretty damn perfectly executed, as far as I could tell.

If you're Spaghetti Westerns, you should check out my Spaghetti Western Concept Rap album, called "Showdown at the BK Corral." It's basically an epic Spaghetti Western over 9 tracks - very influenced by Morricone. I'd love to hear what you think of it! You can download it for free at sunsetparkriders.com

The Good: Just about everything. It feels like you're in the West. Some of the Stranger missions are great. Excellent voice cast. Evocative music. Some of the revolution stuff in Mexico is fantastico. Hunting is more fun that it sounds. Tall Trees at night is frightening. The ability to go back to gang hideouts to clear out a new group of bad guys. Seth. The raft trip into Mexico.

The Bad: John needs waterwings to avoid drowning in two feet of water. Yes, I know you say you need help, but there are six banditos hiding behind your coach. Like the last 40 stranded women. Disarm six people without reloading? Seriously? Since when do bears hunt in packs of twelve? Would it be possible for my horse to stay out near me when I hop off of her?

The Ugly: It's too dark at night and inside buildings. Regardless of how I adjust the display setting and my television. Tying up nuns and leaving them on railroad tracks (Dastardly!)

Funny typo in the original post: "I figured I would ass my spices fist and mix before I added the teriyaki." Hee! I often go an entire day assing my spices. Nothing prepares a good garlic herb dry rub like storing it in a sweaty ass crack. Finding volunteers can a bit rough though.

I will leave as soon as I am able. The difference between now and then is that now I am willing to leave. It takes a large amount of energy to disengage oneself (or myself) from a course of action that has required a huge investment of emotional, physical and temporal capital. Now that I have come to that crossroads, have received the support from my loving wife I find my perspective changing. Who knows what the future holds. I will do what is best for my family, but with the knowledge that helping myself in the short term might just help out everyone in the long-run, suddenly many options are in play.

Get out of retail. You're too good for it. No joke.

As for paying for the mistakes of others and/or the recession, it's happening all over. Take a look at last and this years' Florida legislation for additional details and support for why this choir member understands what you're preaching.
